The 2025 Korea Grand Music Awards (KGMA) has announced its MC lineup! Last year, Ilgan Sports—the Korean newspaper that created the famous Golden Disc Awards and organized it for 24 years, from 1986 to 2020—launched a new music award ceremony honoring mainstream artists from a variety of genres, including K-pop and trot. On August 25, the organizers of the award ceremony announced that Red Velvet’s Irene, Nam Ji Hyun, and KISS OF LIFE’s Natty would be hosting this year’s Korea Grand Music Awards, which will take place over two days on November 14 and 15 at Incheon’s INSPIRE Arena. Nam Ji Hyun will serve as MC on both days of the awards, with Irene co-hosting on November 14 and Natty co-hosting on November 15. Stay tuned for this year’s lineup of artists!

Circle Chart (formerly known as Gaon Chart) has revealed its chart rankings for the week of August 10 to 16! Album Chart MODHAUS’s new boy group idntt topped this week’s physical album chart with their first unit unevermet’s self-titled debut mini album. AMPERS&ONE’s “LOUD & PROUD” entered the chart at No. 2, while SHINee’s Key’s “HUNTER” debuted at No. 3. GOT7’s Jackson’s “MAGICMAN 2” took No. 4 for the week, and ASTRO’s new unit ZOONIZINI’s debut mini album “DICE” rounded out the top five. Download Chart SHINee’s Key topped this week’s digital download chart with his new solo title track “HUNTER,” which debuted at No. 1. The “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack claimed two of the top four spots on this week’s chart: fictional girl group HUNTR/X’s “Golden” (sung by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami) stayed strong at No. 2, while fictional boy band Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” (sung by Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, U-KISS’s Kevin Woo, and samUIL Lee) followed at No. 4. Park Da Hye and Maktub’s “Starting With You” entered the chart at No. 3, with BLACKPINK’s “JUMP” taking No. 5 for the week. Overall Digital Chart + Streaming Chart HUNTR/X’s “Golden” achieved a triple crown on this week’s Circle charts, topping the overall digital chart, streaming chart, and global K-pop chart. The top five songs on this week’s overall digital chart and streaming chart were exactly the same: HUNTR/X’s “Golden” remained No. 1 on both charts, followed by Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” at No. 2, BLACKPINK’s “JUMP” at No. 3, ALLDAY PROJECT’s “FAMOUS” at No. 4, and WOODZ (Cho Seung Youn)’s “Drowning” at No. 5. Global K-Pop Chart The top five songs on this week’s global K-pop chart remained the same as last week. HUNTR/X’s “Golden” held onto its spot at No. 1, with Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” at No. 2, Saja Boys’ “Your Idol” at No. 3, BLACKPINK’s “JUMP” at No. 4, and HUNTR/X’s “How It’s Done” at No. 5.
PURPLE KISS Announces Dates And Cities For Final Tour Before November Disbandment
PURPLE KISS has revealed the dates and cities for their upcoming U.S. tour “A Violet to Remember”! On August 24 local time, PURPLE KISS announced their plans for their final tour before their impending disbandment in November. PURPLE KISS’s “A Violet to Remember” tour will take them to 13 cities across the United States: after kicking things off in Charlotte on October 5, the group will perform in Washington, DC on October 7, Philadelphia on October 8, New York City on October 10, Boston on October 11, Columbus on October 13, Detroit on October 14, Chicago on October 16, Minneapolis on October 18, Kansas City on October 20, Dallas on October 22, Los Angeles on October 25, and San Jose on October 28. Ahead of the tour, PURPLE KISS will be releasing their first English-language album, “OUR NOW,” on August 31 at 6 p.m. KST. Earlier this month, RBW announced that PURPLE KISS would be disbanding in November after four years together. However, the agency also stated that in the months ahead of their official disbandment, the group would be releasing an English album, promoting in Japan, touring the United States, and holding a concert in Korea. Billboard has published its World Albums chart for the week ending on August 23! After two weeks at No. 1, TXT’s latest album “The Star Chapter: TOGETHER” dropped to No. 2 in its fourth consecutive week on the World Albums chart. The album also spent its third week on the Billboard 200 at No. 125. ENHYPEN’s latest mini album “DESIRE : UNLEASH” held onto its spot at No. 3 in its 11th week on the World Albums chart, while their previous album “ROMANCE : UNTOLD” climbed back up to No. 13 in its 57th week on the chart. ATEEZ’s “GOLDEN HOUR : Part.3” also maintained its position at No. 4 in its ninth week on the chart. BTS swept the next two spots on this week’s chart, with their live album “PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LIVE” taking No. 5 in its fourth week and their 2022 anthology album “Proof” rising to No. 6 in its 166th week. Meanwhile, ILLIT’s “bomb” stayed strong at No. 7 in its eighth week on the chart. BTS’s Jungkook has achieved an impressive new feat on YouTube! According to BIGHIT MUSIC, on August 24 at 2:24 a.m. KST, Jungkook’s music video for his 2023 solo hit “Standing Next to You” surpassed 200 million views on YouTube. With this latest achievement, all three of Jungkook’s music videos from his solo debut album “GOLDEN”—“Seven” (featuring Latto), “3D” (featuring Jack Harlow), and “Standing Next to You”—have now reached 200 million views, making him the first K-pop soloist ever to hit the 200 million mark with three official music videos from the same album. Jungkook originally released the music video for “Standing Next to You” on November 3, 2023 at 1 p.m. KST, meaning that it took just over one year, nine months, and 20 days to reach the milestone.
