BLACKPINK has won a 10th music show trophy—and a second triple crown—for their latest single “JUMP”! On the August 23 episode of MBC’s “Music Core,” the candidates for first place were BLACKPINK’s “JUMP,” ALLDAY PROJECT’s “FAMOUS,” and SHINee’s Key’s “HUNTER.” BLACKPINK ultimately took the win with a total of 6,684 points. This is the third time that “JUMP” has taken first place on “Music Core,” meaning that the song has now achieved a “triple crown”! Congratulations to BLACKPINK! Stray Kids' "KARMA" Sells Over 2 Million Copies In Just One Day
Just one day into their comeback, Stray Kids’ new album is already a “double-million seller”! On August 22 at 1 p.m. KST, Stray Kids made their highly-anticipated return with their fourth studio album “KARMA” and its accompanying title track “CEREMONY.” According to Hanteo Chart, “CEREMONY” sold an impressive total of 2,080,072 copies on its first day of sales alone, making it Stray Kids’ second album (after their 2023 album “★★★★★ [5-STAR]”) to surpass 2 million sales on the first day of its release. “KARMA” is also Stray Kids’ fifth album to sell over 2 million copies in its first week, following “MAXIDENT,” “★★★★★ (5-STAR),” “ROCK-STAR,” and “ATE.” Congratulations to Stray Kids!
August Singer Brand Reputation Rankings Announced
The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for singers! The rankings were determined through an analysis of singers’ media coverage, consumer participation, interaction, and community awareness indexes, using big data collected from July 23 to August 23. BTS rose to the top of this month’s list after seeing a 25.31 percent increase in their brand reputation index, bringing their total score to 9,535,953 for August. Lim Young Woong climbed to second place with a brand reputation index of 7,311,589, marking a 25.97 percent rise in their score since July. BLACKPINK took third place for the month with a brand reputation index of 6,822,422, while PSY ranked fourth with a score of 2,806,940. Finally, IVE came in at a close fifth with a brand reputation index of 2,786,683 for August. Check out the top 30 for this month below! Red Velvet's Wendy Announces Dates And Cities For 1st World Tour "W:EALIVE"
Mark your calendars for Red Velvet’s Wendy’s first solo world tour! On August 22 at midnight KST, Wendy officially announced the dates and cities for her upcoming world tour “W:EALIVE.” After kicking things off with two nights of concerts in Seoul on September 20 and 21, Wendy will perform in Taipei on October 3, Hong Kong on October 5, and Tokyo on October 22 and 23. Wendy will then head stateside to perform in San Francisco on October 30, Pasaeena on November 1, Sugar Land on November 4, Chicago on November 6, Brooklyn on November 9, Washington, D.C. on November 11, and Atlanta on November 13. The following month, she will return to Asia, where her tour will take her to Bangkok on December 14, Kuala Lumpur on December 20, Macau on January 10, and Manila on January 17. The 2025 K-World Dream Awards has awarded the best of K-pop! On August 22, the ceremony for the 2025 K-World Dream Awards was held in Seoul with Jun Hyun Moo and Jang Do Yeon, and a star-studded lineup of artists and presenters were present for the special event. Stray Kids won big with four awards including the Best Artist Award, while IVE also took home four awards including the Best Artist Award and the Solo Popularity Award for Jang Won Young.
