Song Joong Ki And His First Love Chun Woo Hee Unexpectedly Run Into Each Other As Adults In "My Youth"

JTBC’s upcoming drama “My Youth” has shared a sneak peek of Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee’s past and present! “My Youth” is a romance drama starring Song Joong Ki as Sunwoo Hae, a man who begins living an ordinary life later than most people, and Chun Woo Hee as Sung Je Yeon, a woman who must shatter the peace of her first love for her own success. Newly released stills from the upcoming drama capture the young Sunwoo Hae (Nam Da Reum) and Sung Je Yeon (Jeon So Young) in their teenage years, back when they were each other’s first love. For both Sunwoo Hae, a child star who had to give up his youth to make a living, and Sung Je Yeon, who was stuck living a strictly managed life with no time to dream of straying off course, their first love was a spark of light in their otherwise dreary lives. One still shows the young students sitting side by side in their uniforms at school, while another captures Sunwoo Hae shyly confessing his feelings to Sung Je Yeon by the sea. As he hands her a bouquet of flowers, Sung Je Yeon smiles so brightly that it’s clear she returns his affections. However, when Sunwoo Hae and Sung Je Yeon reunite as adults, the atmosphere is very different. When they unexpectedly run into one another, both appear more startled than happy to see their first love again. Later, as they look into each other’s eyes at night, there is a wistfulness to their gazes that suggest their long-forgotten memories of the past have begun to return. Song Joong Ki remarked, “For Sunwoo Hae, Sung Je Yeon is his savior. Sung Je Yeon is the person who dragged Sunwoo Hae out of hiding and made it possible for him to step out into the world.” The actor also spoke enthusiastically about his experience working with his co-star Chun Woo Hee, recalling, “While we were filming, I spent a lot of time talking to Chun Woo Hee. I felt comfortable and reassured because we were able to work while communicating openly and honestly with each other.” Meanwhile, Chun Woo Hee described Sunwoo Hae and Sung Je Yeon’s relationship as a “box of memories.” She explained, “When you open it, you are instantly transported back to that time, which you had forgotten all about.” As for her experience working with Song Joong Ki, Chun Woo Hee shared, “We felt comfortable around each other from the very beginning. We had a lot of conversations about the script and pondered together as we filmed the drama. We were very considerate of one another, and the atmosphere on set was great.” “My Youth,” which premieres on September 5 at 8:50 p.m. KST, will be available with subtitles on Viki. Han Suk Kyu Reveals How He Prepared For His Role In Upcoming Drama "Shin's Project"

Han Suk Kyu has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “Shin’s Project”! tvN’s “Shin’s Project” is a new drama starring Han Suk Kyu as Mr. Shin, a former legendary negotiator who now runs a modest chicken restaurant while hiding a mysterious secret. A neighborhood hero who takes it upon himself to mediate conflicts and assist people through seemingly unwinnable situations, Mr. Shin willingly jumps into other people’s conflicts to settle their problems and deliver justice. Explaining why he chose to star in “Shin’s Project,” Han Suk Kyu recalled, “The moment I read the script, it touched my heart. It wasn’t just a story about solving cases; it was also full of human warmth, humor, and realistic emotions.” “The way Mr. Shin solved problems through negotiation was refreshing, and I was also confident that the character’s warmth and weight would be able to reach viewers,” continued the actor. “So I decided to appear [in the drama] without hesitation.” Notably, “Shin’s Project” marks Han Suk Kyu’s third time working with director Shin Kyung Soo, with whom he previously joined forces for the dramas “Tree With Deep Roots” and “Secret Door.” “There are many moments in which we communicate on set just by looking at each other,” said Han Suk Kyu. “Director Shin Kyung Soo meticulously takes the lead on set so that the actors can immerse themselves deeply in their characters.” Describing his first impression of his character, Mr. Shin, Han Suk Kyu remarked, “I felt that he was a truly unusual person. Although he seems like an ordinary chicken restaurant owner on the outside, there’s a depth to him that makes him hard to read. Even in a situation where it appears like he’s smiling, he seems like someone who’s hiding a grave backstory. That first impression remained in my memory for a long time.” Because Mr. Shin is a character with a hidden twist, Han Suk Kyu shared that he spent a lot of time pondering his approach to the role. “In order to portray a three-dimensional character who is smooth and wily on the outside but is keen and perceptive on the inside, I adjusted not only my tone of voice and my gaze, but also even the way I moved my hands while frying chicken.” As for the character’s styling, Han Suk Kyu revealed, “When [Mr. Shin] was in comfortable and friendly chicken restaurant owner mode, I wore clothing with soft colors and fabrics, and when he transformed into a negotiator, I opted for a more sleek and polished style. Thanks to that difference, whenever I changed clothes on set, everyone was able to immediately know, ‘Oh, he’s a restaurant owner right now’ or ‘Oh, now he’s a negotiator.’” “Mr. Shin” will premiere on September 15 at 8:50 p.m. KST.
