Cha Eun Woo Talks About His Military Enlistment, Upcoming Projects, And More
Fashion magazine Esquire Korea has released a pictorial featuring Cha Eun Woo! The pictorial, which was in collaboration with luxury fashion house Saint Laurent, showcased Cha Eun Woo with a short hairstyle that revealed a new side of him. On the day of the photo shoot, staff members from Cha Eun Woo’s agency showed up in matching printed T-shirts featuring a childhood photo of the star, prepared specially for his send-off to the military. Cha Eun Woo commented, “There’s still some time left before my enlistment, but in terms of my official schedule, today is my last [scheduled activity before enlisting]. I only realized after arriving on set and stepping out of the elevator that the staff had even prepared matching T-shirts as a way of sending me off. It still doesn’t quite feel real yet.” Cha Eun Woo, who debuted a short hairstyle through the photo shoot, remarked, “Until now, because of advertisements and other activities, I couldn’t cut my hair freely. But since this is my last project, I wanted to leave behind some photos with short hair. And since it’s a pictorial, I thought it was the right time to show a more daring side of myself that I hadn’t shown before.” He continued, “Working on a pictorial with Saint Laurent is always more fun. Seeing unique pieces like thigh-high boots and leather coats that fall to the calves makes me think about how to interpret such distinctive outfits in photos, and that process is really enjoyable.” Talking about his upcoming projects, Cha Eun Woo shared, “I’ve been preparing projects for the past year or two so that fans won’t feel my absence too much. One of them is the upcoming film ‘First Ride’ [literal title], which also stars Kang Ha Neul, Kim Young Kwang, Kang Young Seok, and Han Sun Hwa.” He also mentioned that the Netflix series “The WONDERfools,” in which he plays a civil servant who is slightly lacking in social skills, has finished production and is awaiting release. The 2025 K-World Dream Awards has awarded the best of K-pop! On August 22, the ceremony for the 2025 K-World Dream Awards was held in Seoul with Jun Hyun Moo and Jang Do Yeon, and a star-studded lineup of artists and presenters were present for the special event. Lee Chae Min Parts Ways With GOLDMEDALIST + Signs With Byeon Woo Seok's Agency
Actor Lee Chae Min has signed with a new agency following the expiration of his exclusive contract with GOLDMEDALIST. On August 20, GOLDMEDALIST released an official statement announcing the conclusion of its exclusive contract with Lee Chae Min. That same day, VARO Entertainment announced that Lee Chae Min had signed an exclusive contract with the agency. “Lee Chae Min is an actor with a charming face, the power to capture people’s attention, and the ability to portray characters with his own unique color,” said VARO Entertainment, which is currently home to actors like Byeon Woo Seok, Gong Seung Yeon, and Jin Goo. “We promise to be unsparing in our strong support of Lee Chae Min so that he can unleash his unlimited potential.” Meanwhile, GOLDMEDALIST’s full statement is as follows: Hello, this is GOLDMEDALIST. Choi Jung Won Personally Speaks Up Regarding Recent Allegations Involving Girlfriend
Choi Jung Won, a former member of the duo UN, has personally addressed stalking allegations. On August 19, Seoul’s Jungbu Police Station said Choi Jung Won was booked on August 16 on suspicion of violating the Stalking Crime Punishment Act. Police then requested an emergency restraining order from the court, which was approved. On August 20, Choi Jung Won posted a lengthy statement on his social media account. The report released yesterday was about a personal conflict between my girlfriend and me, and it was essentially a minor quarrel that escalated into a misunderstanding. In the heat of the moment, there was room for misinterpretation, and as a result, the situation was reported in a way that did not reflect the facts. I deeply regret that. The phrase “my girlfriend’s revelation,” which appeared in some reports, also comes from misunderstanding and does not match the facts. ADOR Appoints New CEO
HYBE subsidiary ADOR has appointed a new CEO. On August 20, the label revealed that Vice President Lee Do Kyung has been appointed as its new CEO. Explaining the decision, ADOR stated, “This move is intended to further strengthen the label’s operations as a company dedicated to planning and managing artists’ activities, including albums and concerts.” Previously, in August of last year, ADOR appointed HR specialist Kim Joo Young as CEO in order to separate production and management and stabilize its organizational structure through appropriate personnel restructuring. With those goals now accomplished, the board has chosen to shift toward a system that can more swiftly support artist activities and business growth—entrusting the role to a leader with hands-on expertise in label management. The newly appointed CEO, Lee Do Kyung, joined HYBE (formerly Big Hit Entertainment) in 2019, where she helped shape the company’s vision and business strategy while spearheading new ventures. In 2022, she served as Vice President of HYBE Music Group’s IPX Business Division, which focuses on expanding artist IP–based businesses, playing a key role in advancing solutions that leverage artist IP. Her track record also includes overseeing HYBE Music Group’s entire merchandise, pop-up store, and light stick businesses, as well as leading THE CITY project—a large-scale collaboration that applied artist IP across entire cities where concerts were held, offering fans immersive experiences beyond the stage.
August Movie Star Brand Reputation Rankings Announced
The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for film actors! The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community awareness indexes of 50 popular movie stars, using big data collected from July 19 to August 19. Jo Jung Suk, who most recently starred in the box office hit “My Daughter Is a Zombie,” topped this month’s list with a brand reputation index of 4,552,801. High-ranking phrases in his keyword analysis included “My Daughter Is a Zombie,” “king of hits,” and “box office,” while his highest-ranking related terms included “surpass,” “trusted,” and “success.” Jo Jung Suk’s positivity-negativity analysis also revealed a score of 91.97 percent positive reactions. Lee Byung Hun held onto his spot at second place with a brand reputation index of 4,090,567, while Lee Jin Uk jumped to third with a score of 3,399,641.
