"KPop Demon Hunters" Sets New UK Record For Most Weekly Streams Of Any Soundtrack + "Golden" Returns To No. 1
The “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack set more than one new record in the United Kingdom this week! For the week of August 14 to 20, “Golden”—the smash hit by the fictional girl group HUNTR/X from the film “KPop Demon Hunters” (sung by EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami)—returned to No. 1 on the Official Singles Chart (widely regarded as the U.K. equivalent to Billboard’s Hot 100 chart in the United States). “Golden,” which first hit No. 1 on the chart two weeks ago, has now become the first K-pop song to top the Official Singles Chart for more than one week. “KPop Demon Hunters” also overtook the 2023 film “Barbie” to break the record for the most U.K. album streams achieved in a single week by any soundtrack in history. The soundtrack spent its eighth week at No. 1 on the Official Compilations Chart, racking up 18,631 streaming-equivalent sales over the past week (and besting the previous record of 17,681 achieved by “Barbie” two years ago). Including “Golden,” “KPop Demon Hunters” once again charted three songs in the top 10 of the Official Singles Chart this week. Fictional boy band Saja Boys’ “Soda Pop” and “Your Idol” (both sung by Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, U-KISS’s Kevin Woo, and samUIL Lee) ranked No. 6 and No. 7 respectively on this week’s chart. TWICE’s Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung’s version of “Takedown” rose to a new peak of No. 35 in its third week on the chart, while TWICE’s 2024 hit “Strategy” (which is included on the “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack) jumped to No. 45. Congratulations to the cast and crew of “KPop Demon Hunters”!
KATSEYE's Manon To Sit Out Summer Sonic Tokyo Due To Health
KATSEYE’s Manon will be sitting out the group’s performance at Summer Sonic Tokyo today. On August 17 KST, KATSEYE’s agency announced that Manon would not be able to perform at Summer Sonic Tokyo later that day due to her health. The previous day, the group cancelled their performance at Summer Sonic Osaka on August 16 “due to two members feeling unwell.” At the time, KATSEYE’s agency stated that both members in question had fully recovered and would be able to perform at Summer Sonic Tokyo the following day. However, the agency has now shared that because Manon’s “condition has declined upon landing in Tokyo,” “she has since made the decision after consulting her doctor to rest in order to recover as soon as possible.” The full announcement is as follows: This is your KATSEYE community manager. We are very sorry to share that Manon will not be able to perform at Summer Sonic Tokyo on Sunday, August 17, as her condition has declined upon landing in Tokyo. She has since made the decision after consulting her doctor to rest in order to recover as soon as possible. We know many EYEKONS were looking forward to seeing all KATSEYE members on stage at Summer Sonic Tokyo and we sincerely apologize for the unforeseen change. Lee Ji Hoon's Agency Confirms His Wife Reported Him To Police For Domestic Violence
Lee Ji Hoon’s agency has confirmed that he is the actor who was reported to the police by his wife for alleged domestic violence. According to the police, they received a phone call on the afternoon of July 24 claiming that Lee Ji Hoon had assaulted his wife at their home in Bucheon. During an argument with his wife, the actor reportedly tried to leave his house, and his wife attempted to stop him, leading to a physical fight. Although the police began investigating Lee Ji Hoon on the allegations of assault, his wife did not wish to press charges, so the incident was classified as a domestic violence case rather than a criminal one. Additionally, based on witness testimony and the fact that the accuser did not want Lee Ji Hoon to be prosecuted, the police intends to close the case soon. On August 14, Lee Ji Hoon’s agency Y.ONE Entertainment responded to reports about the incident in which he was referred to as “40-something actor ‘A’” by confirming that Lee Ji Hoon was the actor in question. However, the agency stated that while it was true that Lee Ji Hoon’s wife had called the police on him during an argument, there had been no assault during the incident. The agency’s full statement is as follows: Hello. This is Y.ONE Entertainment. It’s true that the “40-something actor ‘A’” in today’s reports is our actor Lee Ji Hoon. During a marital argument, the police arrived on the scene due to a report by his wife, but they determined based on testimony at the scene that it was not a serious incident. There was no assault, and his wife has clearly stated that she does not wish to press charges, so the case is currently in the process of being closed.” We deeply apologize for giving you cause for concern through this matter, and both Lee Ji Hoon and his wife are reflecting on the incident. Thank you.
